Although it wasn’t that long ago that today’s parents were kids so many changes have taken place that it seems as if a whole century has passed. One of my favourite game as a kid was tree climbing as my neighbourhood was full of olive trees that were ideal for competing with the other kids who would climb higher. Streets where so quite that we could even play football on the road or just chase each other all around.
Our curiosity was so big that numerous times we would break in one of those abandoned villas and try to discover something new. Those mansions are long gone now, and the few ones left have been turned into museums. Cycling around the neighbourhood was another common activity which today is very risky because it’s not safe enough given the increased number of cars moving around.
Undoubtedly, the importance of outdoor play has remained the same throughout the centuries for all kids and there is not need for this generation to miss out. The summer is a great time to stay away from those computers and enjoy the good weather in the greens. All you need is a garden or a balcony and purchasing some Outdoor toys.
